Acme Southern, Inc. began as Acme Soap & Chemical in Cambridge, Mass. in 1929. There, we made soaps and detergents for the local wool industry. Since then, we have been family owned and operated. Over the years, our soap and detergent production has diminished, however we do continue to service the textile industries.
After spending over 50 years on an ever growing South Blvd., Acme Southern relocated from a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse to our current 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse in South Charlotte in 2004. With more room and easier accessibility, we are more productive and efficient than ever. As you can see from our ‘Products’ page, we now provide a vast products list for just about any business in any industry.
2009 has brought us into our 80th year as chemical distributors. We are proud to call Charlotte home and plan to continue providing the Southeast with products and services to help your business.
With the cotton textiles booming in the Southeast, Acme Soap and Chemical made the decision to head south in the early 1950s. As in Cambridge, we made soaps and detergents, but this time for the cotton and synthetic textile industries. Our first warehouse was located on what was then a desolate South Blvd. in Charlotte, N.C. In 1953, we began serving the South with various soaps, salts, scours and other products. In the early 1970s, Acme Soap & Chemical became Acme Southern, Inc.
